This St. Patrick’s Day Hard Alphabetical Order Activity will teach your students how to put sight words in alphabetical order and build recognition.
Knowing how to put words in alphabetical order is an important life skill for your students to be able to do. This activity will help them to be able to find School Closings on the news or stores on the mall map.
First, sort out the cards based on the picture. You should have three different sets – leprechaun, rainbow, and clover. Then, put each set of cards in alphabetical order. Use anAlphabet Posteras a support to make sure that your order is correct. Finally, complete the worksheet independently or with a partner.

This skill helps students find words in a dictionary or books in a library. This activity gives three sets of ten words to students for students to rewrite in ABC order. First, students sort the words in alphabetical order individually or with a partner. Then, they complete the worksheet to continue their practice! Finally, challenge students to put all thirty letters in alphabetical order. It is an excellent addition to a literacy center.
