Introduce this worksheet by using the Common and Proper Noun Flash Cards. Sort the first cards “hero” and “Superman” for students. Ask students to explain why hero was put in the Common Noun Category and Superman went in the Proper Noun Category. Next, have students help you sort the rest of the cards. Then, students complete worksheet independently or with a partner. Challenge students to use the words from the worksheet in their own sentences.
