Introduce this lesson by sharing well-known idioms with your students. Ask students to help you figure out what the sentence means. Then, students complete worksheet independently or with a partner. As students work, circulate around the classroom to listen to student discussions’ about figurative language. Finally, students continue their practice using the provided worksheets. Challenge students look for examples of idioms in the books they are reading.
