How to teach Punctuation
Using L.K.2 Kindergarten Common Core Lesson, students recognize and use end punctuation to complete sentences.
This lesson teaches students how to use punctuation correctly at the end of a sentence. This lesson is perfect for small groups, literacy centers or independent practice.
Students match the sentences with the correct end punctuation. Then, students continue their practice using the worksheets.

Use this Cool Cat Sentences Activity as an additional resource for your students.
Introduce this activity by writing three different sentences on the board. Examples are “I like ice cream”, “Who wants to eat ice cream” and “Lets go get ice cream”. Next, ask students to help you put a period, exclamation point, and a question mark at the end of each sentence. Then, students complete the activity independently or with a partner. Finally, students continue their practice using the provided worksheets. Once finished, challenge students to write their own exclamatory, question, and declarative sentences.
