How to teach Sentence Types
Using Cool Cat Sentences Activity, students sort and organize the different types of sentences (Telling Sentence, Asking Sentence, Exciting Sentence).
Being able to write in different sentence types makes your students’ writing engaging for audiences. This activity gives your student exposure to different types of sentences.
Students sort sentence types into three categories- Telling, Asking and Exciting.

Use this Sweetheart Sentence Activity as an additional resource to support your students’ reading ability.
Introduce this activity by writing three different sentences on the board. Examples are “I like ice cream”, “Who wants to eat ice cream” and “Lets go get ice cream”. Ask students to help you put a period, exclamation point, and a question mark at the end of each sentence. Then, students complete activity independently or with a partner. Once finished, challenge students to write their own exclamatory, question, and declarative sentences.
