Being able to use the correct homophone helps your students clearly share their messages. Your students also will encounter homophone while they are reading. This activity will help them build their understanding of when to use each homophone pair.

Introduce this activity by having students share homophone pairs that they know. Next, teacher reads sentences aloud with homophone in them. The class gives a thumbs up or thumbs down depending on if the word was used correctly. Then, students complete the activity with a partner. Finally, challenge students to create a list of other homophone pairs. This activity is perfect for an easy literacy center or early finisher activity.
