How to teach Converting Measurements

Your students will need to know how to convert among different measurements with a system. This lesson is perfect for small group, math centers or independent practice.
First, read the scenario on the paw print cards. Next, solve and match it to the answer on the paw card. Then, write your answer on the recording sheet. Finally, continue your practice with the provided worksheets independently or with a partner.

First, introduce this lesson by creating an anchor chart with students to show conversions between different units. Ask students to look for patterns that they see between measurement. After the activity, share students’ discussions that you heard to promote conversion skills. Finally, student can continue their practice using the provided worksheets.
