This lesson teaches students how to proof reading their writing to share their message. This lesson is perfect for small group, literacy centers or independent practice.
Proofread the provided paragraph, fixing the improper mechanics. Then, write a paragraph that continues the main idea of the first paragraph, demonstrating correct capitalization and punctuation.Finally, students will continue their practice using the provided worksheets.

Introduce this lesson by writing a paragraph with lots of errors in it. Next, students give suggestions about how to fix the errors in the sentences. Then, complete activity independently or with a partner. As students work, circulate around the classroom to listen to student discussions’ about correct writing conventions. After the activity, share students discussions that you heard to promote writing skills. Finally, students can continue their practice using the provided worksheets.
