Description
How to teach Angles
In this 4.G.2 Fourth Grade Common Core Lesson, students classify shapes based on presence or absence of specific lines and angles.
Classifying shapes based on lines and angles will help your students learn more about shape attributes. This lesson is perfect for small group, math centers or independent practice.
First, sort each line, point or angle into the category that it best fits! Then, with a partner or small group, play Battle Shape! Sink and collect your opponent’s Shape Ships by first choosing a coordinate. If a Shape Ship is on that coordinate, your opponent will show you the Shape Ship and you must correctly name a property of that shape. If correct, you keep the Shape Ship. If incorrect, the Shape Ship is returned to the water. Fold your game board on the dotted line, place your Shape Ships on your board, and begin! At the end of the game, match the shape property cards to their correct shape and complete the recording sheet.
