How to teach Dividing by Power of 10
In this 4.NBT.1 Fourth Grade Common Core Lesson, students divide given numbers by 10, 100, or 1,000.
Dividing by Powers of 10 is a beginning skill for Order of Operations. This lesson is perfect for small group, math centers or independent practice.
First, solve the division problem on the activity card. Then, record your answer on the recording sheet. Finally, continue your practice with the provided worksheets individually or with a partner.

First, review dividing by powers of ten by making groups of base ten blocks. Ask students to look for patterns between the groups and equations. Next, distribute materials to students. Finally, student can continue their practice using the provided worksheets individually or with a partner.
