How to teach Spelling
Using L.4.1 Fourth Grade Common Core Lesson, students correctly use frequently confused words in order to clearly share their message.
This lesson teaches students how to use frequently confused words like to, two and too correctly. This lesson is perfect for small groups, literacy centers or independent practice.
Students match the (ice cream cone) sentence with the correct (ice cream) confusing word. Record your answers on the practice worksheet. Then, students will continue their practice using the provided worksheets.

Introduce this lesson by writing a paragraph with lots of spelling errors on the board. Next, ask students to give advice about how to change the errors. Then, students complete the activity independently or with a partner. As they read, push students to explain why they chose to use that specific word. Finally, students continue their practice using the provided worksheets.
