This 1.MD.3 Common Core Activity teaches students about how to read a clock to the hour and half hour through this matching activity.
This lesson will give students the opportunity to read a clock to the hour and half hour. Since this is most likely students first experience with telling time, students will love having this activity at a center for additional practice!
Match the analog time to the digital time cards. After matching, tell the time on the clocks on the worksheet.
If you are using this activity, your students are probably learning about telling time.
Use this Put the Time in the Coconut Activity as an additional resource for your students.
Introduce this activity by listening to the Have Fun Teaching Counting by Fives Song. Since this is most likely students first experience with telling time, begin by doing matching a couple of analog and digital clocks together and thinking aloud about how you made your choices.To finish the matching process, you could distribute all of the cards to your students and have them find their partner or print a class set so everyone gets the opportunity to practice matching the time. After the matching process is finished, students can continue their practice with the worksheets.
