Use this Finding 10 More 10 Less Activity as an additional resource for your students.
Begin this lesson by using a hundreds Chart and asking questions like “What do you notice about the hundreds chart?” and “Do you see any patterns on the hundreds chart?”. This will help students start to see the patterns in our number system. Then, display one of the activity cards and think aloud “This looks like a part of our hundreds chart. What number do you think will I write above this number?”. The goal is to have students see the pattern that each row adds 10. After this discussion, distribute cards so students can practice with a partner filling in the missing parts of the hundreds chart. Students can continue their practice using the worksheets independently or with a partner.
