This 1.OA.3 First Grade Common Core lesson allows students to discover that it doesn’t matter what order they use when adding addends, they will still get the same answer. This lesson is good for a small group, math center, partner practice or whole group lesson.
Match the equations on the popcorn cards to the same equations on the popcorn buckets. Notice that even though the addends are in a different order, you still get the same answer! Continue your practice of the Commutative Property of Addition using the worksheets individually or with a partner.
