How to teach Measurement
In this 2.MD.3 Common Core Activity, students estimate and then measure lengths using units of inches, feet, centimeters, and meters.
Being able to estimate length is a skill that takes a lot of practice. In this lesson, students will estimate and then measure different objects in the classroom in both centimeters and inches.
Use the activity cards to measure different objects in your classroom. Look at the object on the card. Then, look at a ruler showing inches and feet and a ruler showing centimeters and meters. Estimate the length of the real life object shown on the card.Once you have finished measuring continue your practice using on the worksheet individually or with a partner.
