How to teach Addition and Subtraction
In this 2.NBT.5 Second Grade Common Core lesson, students fluently add and subtract within 100 using multiple strategies.
Being able to add and subtract fluently will support your students as they go into more difficult math lessons. The focus can be on the new skill and not the facts. This lesson is perfect for small group, math centers or independent practice.
Cut out and shuffle the item cards. Students flip two cards and add or subtract based on the spinner. Students record equations on the activity sheet. Continue your practice adding and subtracting using the provided worksheet by yourself or with a partner.
