How to teach Equivalent Fractions
In this 4.NF.1 Fourth Grade Common Core Lesson, students create a new fraction that is equivalent to another fraction by multiplying.
Creating equivalent fractions will help your students as they add and subtract fractions. This lesson is perfect for small group, math centers or independent practice.
First, multiply the numerator and denominator by the same number. Then, write the equivalent (equal) fraction in the space provided. Next, find the Heart card that has the equivalent fraction on it and match it to the fraction equation. Finally, continue practicing creating equivalent fractions with the provided worksheets.
