If your students know how place values are connected, they will be able to easily solve when multiplying and dividing by 10. This lesson is perfect for small group, math centers or independent practice.
First, choose five task cards. Then, solve the problem on your worksheet. Finally, continue your practice with the provided worksheets independently or with a partner.

First, introduce this lesson by reviewing the place values. Ask students what they notice about the place value chart. Next, distribute materials to students. As students work, circulate around the classroom and listen to discussions students have about moving along the place value chart. After the activity, share students’ discussions that you heard to promote place value skills. Finally, student can continue their practice using the provided worksheets individually or with a partner.
