How to teach Counting

Using Common Core Activity - K.CC.1, students practice counting to 100 by organizing the number cards in order from 1 to 100.

Your students need a lot of practice counting to 100. This activity is perfect for early finishers or a math center!

Students cut out each number card. Count to 100 by ones by organizing the color coded number cards in order from 1 to 100. Count to 100 by tens using the tens number cards.

Introduce this activity by listening to the Have Fun Teaching Counting by Ones Song. Next, distribute cards to students for practice counting to 100.  As students work, circulate around the classroom to listen to discussions students have about counting. After the activity, share students discussions that you heard to improve counting skills.
