How to teach Graphing
Using K.MD.3 Common Core Worksheet, students count pictures and then classify them into three different categories in order to analyze the graph created.
This worksheet is an introduction to graphing. Your students will practice counting and answering questions about a basic graph.
Circle the pictures on the right to match the categories below. Then, count how many are in each category and answer the questions below.

Introduce this worksheet by asking questions about the children in class. Sample Questions could be “How many kids are wearing jeans?” or “How many classmates write with their left hand?”. Then, have students complete worksheet independently or with a partner. Finally, ask students to create their own graph using classmates or objects in the classroom.
