How to teach Size
Using this K.MD.3 Kindergarten Common Core Lesson, students sort objects into categories in order to find similarities between objects.
Being able to find similarities within objects helps your students build their critical thinking skills. This lesson pushes your students to find connections between objects.
Students sort objects into categories. There should be six in each category. Then, students add their own objects into each category.

Use this Size Activity as an additional resource for your students.
Introduce this lesson by discussing objects that could fit in the following categories – animals, food, and cars & trucks. Next, students share why these objects fit in each category. Then, students sort object cards into categories. Once finished, push students to explain why they chose to put each the object in each category. Finally, students continue their practice using the provided worksheets. Challenge students to add their own objects into each category.
