How to teach Number Patterns
In this 5.OA.3 Fifth Grade Common Core lesson students generate two numerical patterns using two given rules and identify apparent relationships between corresponding terms.
This lesson teaches students how to generate two numerical patterns using given rules. This lesson is perfect for small group, math centers or independent practice.
First, using a dry- or wet-erase marker, complete the function tables for each rule on the laminated cards. Next, choose two addition and two subtraction rules and graph them. Then, explain the relationship between the terms generated by each rule. Finally, continue your practice with the provided worksheets.
