How to teach Place Value

UsingPlace Value Dice Game, students create a larger three digit numbers than their partner in order to build place value skills.

Understanding the value of each digit of a number helps your students build their number sense. This game gives them practice with finding the value of a three digit number.

Using a 0-9 die, write the rolled digit into a place on the chart. Read

the hundreds number you created. (If you do not have a 0-9 die, you can make a number generator using an egg carton labeled with digits 0-9. Shake a bean inside the closed egg carton, open, and see the digit you will use.) Play with a partner and see who has the greater number
