Begin this activity by using a hundreds Chart and asking questions like “What do you notice about the hundreds chart?” and “Do you see any patterns on the hundreds chart?”. This will help students start to see the patterns in our number system. Then, display one of the activity cards and think aloud “This looks like a part of our hundreds chart. What number do you think will I write above this number?”. The goal is to have students see the pattern that each row adds 10. Then, students complete the worksheet independently or with a partner. Finally, students can continue their practice creating their own examples.
