How to teach Phonological Awareness
Using the Phonological Awareness Worksheet, students use Elkonin Boxes toread and listen to the sounds in the words.
Each word has three sounds, but may have more than three letters. Sometimes letters work together to make one sound. The sounds you hear in the words are called phonemes. This worksheet gives them practice using common words that they will encounter in their reading.
Read the words. Listen to the sounds as you say each word. Write the sounds into each Elkonin box correctly.
