How to teach Letter Recognition
Using Uppercase Letters Activity, studentspractice identifying uppercase letters to build recognition skills.
Being able to recognize lowercase and uppercase letter pairs will help your students as they being to read. This activity supports students learning of Uppercase ABC letters.
Lay the letter cards face down on a surface or in a pocket chart. Hide six of the quarters behind the letters. Next, students take turns flipping over the letters to find the hidden quarters! Then, students must say the letter after it is flipped. The student who collects the most quarters wins. Finally, students continue their practice with the provided worksheet.

Introduce this activity by using the Alphabet Flash Cards. Next, students write examples of lowercase and uppercase letters on their personal white boards. Then, students complete activity on their own or with a partner. Finally, students can create posters with both uppercase and lower case letters on it. Once finished, challenge students to write list of words that begin with each picture.
