How to teach Author’s Purpose
Using Authors Purpose Picture Sorting Activity, students identify the reasons an author gives to support points in a text.
Understanding the reason why an author wrote a text supports your students’ comprehension as they read. This activity gives them the opportunity to match the pictures to each reason why an author writes.
Discuss the role of an author. Next, discuss that there are different reasons for an author to write a book. Then, use the activity cards to teach authors purpose Sort the picture cards under the correct activity card.
