When you begin to read, you need to know how to read words and sentences with accuracy. This activity gives students the opportunity to practice reading words and sentences in a book.
Read the sentence strips aloud to a partner. Your partner will
rate you using the cards. When you get five 4s from your partner
switch!

Use this Reading Fluency Checklist Worksheet as an additional resource for your students.
Introduce this activity by asking students to share examples of words and sentences. Next, students read different sentences in different voices. Then, students complete the activity independently or with a partner. Finally, students practice reading independently with their own books.
