How to teach Context Clues
Using Pictures and Words Context Clues Activity, students use pictures and text to find out the meaning of unknown words as they read.
While reading an informational text, your students will encounter many words that they don’t know. This activity guides them through the steps to take when figuring out definitions of unknown words.
Have the teacher read a picture book page by page, then say a piece of information from each page of the book. Then, students must raise up either “Picture” or “Words” paddle to tell how they learned that information.
