Retelling Using Key Details Activity

How to teach Summarizing

Using Retelling Using Key Details Activity, students read Floppy Ears to retell the story by putting key events in order.

Being able determine the summarize text that you are reading helps your students understand what they have read. This activity will help your student to make sure that they retell a full story.

Read Floppy Ears. Discuss key details in the story. Discuss details in the story that are not important. Using the First, Next, Then, and Last retell cards, put the story in order. Use the other set of retell cards for more of a challenge.
