Use this Main Idea Hand Graphic Organizer as an additional resource for your students.
Introduce this lesson by reviewing how to find the main idea of a text. Ask students to help you figure out the difference between an important and interesting detail. Create an anchor chart with your students as a resource to help them identify the main idea. Then, have students complete lesson independently or with a partner as they read. Once finished, have students share out the main idea of their text.
