How to teach Author's Purpose

Use this Author's Purpose Activity as an additional resource for your students.

Introduce this activity by looking at a cover of a book and asking about who the names on the front of the book belong to. Next, have students explain what authors and illustrators do. Then, students complete activity individually or with a partner. Finally, students share about the authors and illustrators they learned about. Once finished, students continue their practice using the provided worksheet.
