How to teach Characters
Using How Does The Character Respond Activity, students describe how characters in a story respond to major events and challenges.
Characters are the most important pieces of a book. You can learn so much about a character based on what they say and do. This activity will help your students to think about character reactions to gain a better understanding of why characters make the choices that they do.
Read “Old Socks” and use the graphic organizer to describe how Susan responds to major events in the story. Then, students use the graphic organizer as they read independently.
