How to teach Story Elements with the 5 Ws
Are you teaching story elements with your students? If your kids are learning about the 5 Ws, this resource can be a great way to help them explore the Who, What, When, Where, and Why of the text they are reading.
With this Who What When Where Why Graphic Organizer Worksheet, your students will use the pieces of the pie to write down important information in their story. They will look for important characters/people in the text. They will then write down details about what the plot/conflict of the story is. The “why” of the story will go in the third slice. The setting of the text goes in the fourth slice, and finally, when the story or text happened will go in the final slice. Use this graphic organizer to help your students look for key details in a text.
Teaching story elements is an important skill when learning Reading, Science, and Social Studies. Graphic Organizers such as these can allow your students to better their story elements skills by helping them learn the important details to write down.
