Introduce this worksheet by sharing different scenarios that cause an effect to happen. Examples of open ended causes would be “The dog barked” or “the boy cried”. Ask students to help you figure out causes of the different actions that occurred. Create an anchor chart with your students as a resource to help them identify cause and effect situations. Then, have students complete the worksheet independently or with a partner. Challenge your students to come up with more cause and effect situations using the sentence starters “If…., then….”
