Beginning Sounds Animal Activity

How to teach Beginning Consonants

Using the Beginning Sounds Animal Activity, students match animal picture cards to words cards by using the beginning sound of each word.

Being able to identify the beginning consonants helps students read and write words. This activity gives them practice using common words that they will encounter in their reading.

Match the animal picture card to the matching word by using the beginning sound of each word. After all matches have been made, use the recording sheet to write each word next to the picture.
