How to teach Speaking and Listening
Using this SL.2.3 Second Grade Common Core Lesson, students ask and answer questions about what a speaker says in order to clarify comprehension, gather additional information, or deepen understanding of a topic or issue.
Being able to describe people, places, and ideas is important for your students to be clear communicators. This activity will give your student to be good participants when discussing what they know and asking questions to get more information.

Introduce this lesson by students share everything they know about themselves. Next, students review the Small Group Discussion checklist from SL.2.1. Second Grade Common Core Lesson and explain why each point is important when having a discussion. Then, students engage in a discussion with their classmates. Finally, students share how they think the discussion went. Students should share what went well and what could be improved.
