How to teach Sight Words
Using Supermarket Sweep Food Words Activity, students practice reading high frequency words tocollect all of the food items on your shopping list.
This grocery themed activity is a great high frequency words activity. Knowing how to read and find items in a grocery store helps your students is a life skill for your students.
Roll a die and travel around the supermarket aisles. When landing on a food item,check to see if it is on your list. If it is, you may check this food off on your list. If it is not, stay on the space and wait for your next turn. The first player to collect all of their food items is the winner! If any player reaches the end of the supermarket aisle, they may turn around and go back in the other direction.

Then, have students complete activity independently or with a partner. Finally, students can write about the words from this activity.
