How to teach Vocabulary
This Name That Group Organizing Words Activity is a fun way for students to learn about Vocabulary!
Your students can use this fun activity to learn about Vocabulary.
With this activity, your students can work independently or with a partner to match the Words on the Marshmallows to the Word Groups on the Peeps. First, students will determine if the vocabulary word on the marshmallow is an action, emotion, state of being, or wildlife by organizing them. Next, they will use the accompanying worksheet to write the words with the appropriate category.
Teachers can use the blank marshmallow cards in many ways! Use vocabulary words from current lessons and have students organize those words into the provided categories. Match this activity up with a Science lesson on wildlife.
For an added challenge, provide your students with only the marshmallow cards for an open sort with the vocabulary words! First, they can work independently or together to sort the cards themselves. Then, they can have discussions about why they sorted them the way they did. Finally, after they have sorted the cards according to categories they have observed about the words, provide them with the Peeps cards and the provided worksheet.
