How to teach Angles
Using this Measuring Monstrous Angles Activity, students measure angles in whole-number degrees using a protractor.
Being able to measure angles with a protractor will help your students as they begin their Geometry lessons. This lesson is perfect for small group, math centers or independent practice.
First, measure each angle on the monster card using a protractor . Next, check your work to make sure that your measurement makes sense. Then, match the angle to its measurement. Finally, write your answer on the recording sheet.

First, model how to measure an angle using a protractor. Review with students by having them help you create an anchor chart with clear steps. Next, distribute the activity and protractors to students. As students work, circulate around the classroom to listen to student discussions. After the activity, share students’ discussions that you heard to promote angle measurement skills. Finally, students can discuss angles they see in the classroom.
