This NonFiction Fishin’ Activity is a fun way for students to learn about Genres and Nonfiction Text!
Your students can use this fun Non-Fiction Fishin’ Activity to learn about Genres.
With this activity, your students can work independently to map their thinking as they read non-fiction texts. Using the provided Graphic Organizers, your students will be able to share what they know, what they want to know, what they learned, and what they would still like to learn. These organizers fit a variety of texts including informational, history, biographies, social studies, science, and technical texts. Once students have finished, extend their learning by challenging them to complete the Fiction and Nonfiction Features Worksheet.
This activity is a great way to encourage students to think about what they know about a topic before reading the text, as well as what they have learned from the text and what they would like to learn more about the topic. By using this activity in class, teachers will also be able to assess students’ ability to comprehend informational texts.
