How to teach Theme
Using this Determining Theme Graphic Organizers Activity, students determine the theme of a story, drama, or poem from details in the text using Graphic Organizers.
Theme is the central message of a story. The theme will help you understand the lesson the author wants you to learn from reading their writing. This activity will help your students to determine the theme while using a graphic organizer.
Students will read either a story, drama, or poem. Then, they will use the corresponding graphic organizer to summarize the text and determine the theme.
