How to teach Story Elements
Using this Finding Story Elements Activity, students help three superheroes defeat the evil villain Story Weaver and crack the code in a story. Use the boxes on the next pages to help them do their job!
Story Elements are the most important pieces of a book. Being able to determine the story elements of a book will help your students build reading comprehension.
Choose a grade-level storybook to read to your students. Cut out the story elements cards. Some have been left blank for you to fill in. Have students fill in as many cards as they can about story elements. Then students decide if the two elements they are comparing are mostly similar or mostly different and place them in the appropriate place on the Story Weaver monster’s page. Finally, discuss why the elements were similar or different.
