Description

How to teach Point of View

Using this Guess Who Point of View Activity, students identify their partner’s “secret narrator” as the partner reads a text card.

A character’s dialogue and actions can give your students a lot of information about what they are thinking and feelings. This activity will help your students to learn more about the characters and author’s points of view on a topic.

Partner two students up and have each student pick either the red game card or the blue game card. Each player chooses Point of View card to become the “secret narrator” and hides it. The object of the game is to guess the other player’s secret narrator. The other player will pick up and read a Point of View card. The player then must determine which character on their board would tell a story from that perspective, and cover their picture with a yellow square. The players take turns reading a Point of View card and eliminated players until you believe they know the “secret narrator”. Read the hidden Point of View card and see if the perspective matches the character! Use the Recording Sheets to practice writing stories from different points of views as well as explain how a point of view influences how events are told in a story.
