How to teach Narratives
Using this Write About a Time When. . . Activity, students choose a star event card to write a narrative about a time when a specific event happened, such as a time when they were sad.
Your students are always wanting to share stories with you and their peers about their holiday breaks, something they did over the weekend, or about the newest game they are playing at home. Why not give them the opportunity to tell you about it, but in writing? Not only are they able to share their story, they are also improving on their writing skills!
Students will write a narrative to develop real or imagined experiences or events using effective technique, descriptive details, and clear event sequences. First, they will choose a star event card. Then, they plan their writing on the graphic organizer before publishing it on the provided template.
