How to teach Writing
Using this Writing Tweets Activity, students choose a prompt about the included story “Making a Milk or Juice Carton Bird Feeder” and produce a writing sample.
To become good writers, our students must write as much as possible. Figuring out the topic is often difficult for students. These prompt cards will help your students write on topics based on what they read. This Writing Tweets Activity will also help your students’ ability to write about reading, showing their comprehension of the text.

Introduce this Writing Tweets Activity by reading the provided story “Making a Milk or Juice Carton Bird Feeder”. Then, begin giving students sentence starters to talk with their partner about, using two to three prompts provided in the activity.” Next, have students talk to a partner about the topic for one minute. After that, give the students the provided writing paper to write on the topic. Finally, students read their pieces to a partner for feedback. Once finished, students can share their writing through a gallery walk or other presentation.
