How to teach Poetry
Using How Words Work Poetry Activity, students describe how words &
phrases supply rhythm and meaning in a story, poem, or song.
Poetry is sometimes difficult for our students to understand. We have to give them lots of supports to gain an understanding of the message. This activity walks your students through how to read poems.
Students will read “Run, Run, Run” and describe how the words and phrases supply meaning in the poem using the graphic organizer. Students can use the graphic organizer when reading any poem to continue practicing this skill.
