How to teach Beginning Sounds
Using the Beginning Sounds PR, TR, GR Worksheet, students use the pictures to determine which beginning sound begins the word.
Being able to identify the beginning blends helps students read and write words. This worksheet gives them practice using common words that they will encounter in their reading.

Introduce this worksheet by using a Blank Bingo Board playing Blend Bingo. Have students create their own board by writing PR, TR, or GR as many times as they’d like. Then, say words that begin with those digraphs. Stop playing once 2-3 students get BINGO!With your students, create a list of words that begin with PR, TR, or GR. Then, students complete the worksheet independently or with a partner. Have students come up with additional words from your classroom to add to their list of PR, TR, or GR.
