Description
Skip counting is the bridge between counting and multiplication, and this Christmas skip counting worksheet gives students a festive way to practice it. Students skip count by 3s, 4s, 7s, 8s and 9s, finding the rule in each number pattern before filling in the missing numbers.
This 3rd grade Christmas worksheet has two parts. First, students study five number lines of eight numbers each. Only three numbers are given, so they must work out the counting rule, then count forward and backward to complete the pattern. Next, they solve three holiday word problems about ornaments, wreaths and presents by skip counting on a writing line and recording the total. Use it as independent practice, a math center, homework, or a quick check before a multiplication unit. Because each item gives only part of the pattern, the sheet shows you right away which students truly understand how skip counting works.
