What happened to the old affiliate program

The commission-based affiliate program has ended, and no commissions remain payable under it. If you were signed up to it, nothing is owed and nothing is pending.

The replacement is simpler and, for most teachers, worth more. The old program paid a flat $10 only when someone bought a membership. Invite & Earn pays 10% of anything a new friend buys on your link — a membership, a single worksheet, even a school plan — and it drops straight onto your own renewal. The trade-off is honest and worth saying plainly: you are earning store credit, not a paycheck.

How the teacher referral program works

Four steps, and three of them happen without you.

1. Grab your link

Sign in and open My Account → Invite & Earn. Say yes to the program terms once, and your personal link is there to copy. It looks like havefunteaching.com/r/YOURCODE — no coupon code for anyone to remember, and nothing to type at checkout.

2. Share it with people who will actually use it

Text it to a teammate, email it from inside your account, or post it to Facebook, Pinterest or X with one tap. Every resource page also carries a share link with your code built into it, so you can send the exact worksheet, song or video a friend needs instead of a generic homepage link.

3. Your friend buys, at a discount

If they are new to Have Fun Teaching, they get 10% off their first payment. Memberships start with a free trial, so their signup is $0.00 and there is nothing to discount that day — the 10% comes off the first real payment when the trial ends.

4. Your credit arrives

You earn 10% of what they actually paid. The credit is held for 7 days while the order settles, then it is yours to spend. You do not have to claim it: it comes off your next membership renewal automatically, before your card is charged.

What your credit is actually worth

Because the reward is a percentage of what your friend pays after their own discount, the number depends on what they buy. At today’s prices:

• Yearly membership — $39.97, they pay $35.97 with their discount, you earn $3.60.
• Monthly membership — $9.97, they pay $8.97, you earn $0.90.
• A single resource — $6.97, they pay $6.27, you earn $0.63.
• School & Co-op yearly — $499.97, they pay $449.97, you earn $45.00.

Twelve friends who each start a yearly membership add up to $43.20 in credit, which covers a $39.97 renewal with change to spare. One principal or co-op leader does it on their own. Credit cannot be applied to tax or shipping, and it cannot take an order below $0.00.

The rules, in plain English

None of this is hidden in the small print, so here it is in the open:

• New customers only. The person you invite has to be new to Have Fun Teaching. You cannot refer yourself, including from a second email address.
• 30 days. A click is credited to you for 30 days. If they click someone else’s link after yours, the most recent link gets the credit.
• First payment only. Credit is earned once per referred customer, on their first payment — not on their renewals afterwards.
• 7 days, then 24 months. Credit is held for 7 days after it is earned, then available to spend for 24 months. We email you before any of it expires.
• Store credit, not cash. It has no cash value, cannot be transferred to another account, and is removed if the order behind it is refunded.
• One account per person, and no coupon sites, brand-name ads, or bulk email. Credit earned that way may be removed.

The full terms live in our Terms of Use. And whenever you share a link that earns you something, the FTC’s endorsement guidance asks you to say so — “this is my referral link” is enough, and it tends to land better anyway.

You are not selling anything. You are handing over the thing you already text people screenshots of.

Is it worth it for a teacher?

Be realistic about the shape of a teacher referral program like this one. It will not replace a tutoring income, and it is not passive income — it is a discount that grows when your recommendations are good. If you teach on a team, run a co-op, or answer “where is that from?” three times a week, it can quietly cover your membership. If you are not going to share anything, it will earn you nothing, and that is fine too.
